Terms of Service
Last updated . See also our Privacy Policy.
In short
- You own your audio and your analysis history. We license what we need to run the analysis and serve you the results; nothing more.
- MixLens scores aren't guarantees. They're calibrated measurements against published standards. A "pass" band means we don't see issues; it doesn't mean the mix will sell records.
- Paid plans auto-renew until you cancel. Cancel any time from the Stripe portal in your account.
- Don't upload audio you don't have rights to. No malware, no abuse, no scraping. If we discover you've done any of these we'll terminate the account.
Acceptance
By creating an account, uploading audio, or otherwise using MixLens (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms and the companion Privacy Policy. If you're using MixLens on behalf of a business, you confirm you're authorized to bind that business to these Terms.
You must be at least 13 years old to use MixLens. If you're between 13 and the age of legal majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian's permission.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your password and API tokens secret. Share API tokens with services you trust; revoke them at /account/api-tokens if a token is compromised. Webhook secrets work the same way — treat them like passwords.
You're responsible for everything that happens under your account (including via API tokens you've issued). If something looks unauthorized, change your password and email security@mixlens.io.
What you can and can't upload
You can upload:
- Audio you created, own, or have a license to analyze.
- Reference tracks you have rights to use as a reference (your own work, royalty-free, or licensed).
You can't use MixLens to:
- Upload, host, or share audio you don't have rights to.
- Upload malicious payloads disguised as audio.
- Reverse-engineer the service, scrape rate-limited endpoints, or attempt to bypass quotas.
- Resell MixLens-as-a-service to your own customers without an explicit agreement.
- Use it to harass, defame, or harm anyone.
We don't pre-screen uploads, but we reserve the right to remove any content that violates these terms and to terminate accounts that repeatedly do so.
Who owns what
Your content stays yours. You retain all rights to the audio you upload and to your analysis history. We don't claim ownership of either.
When you upload audio, you grant MixLens a limited, non-exclusive license to:
- Store the audio on our infrastructure for the retention period.
- Process it through our deterministic DSP analysis and corrective render pipelines.
- Return the resulting metrics, diagnostics, and rendered output to you.
That license terminates when the audio is deleted (per your plan's retention schedule). We don't license your audio to anyone else, train on it, or use it for any purpose beyond serving you the result you came for.
Our content stays ours. The MixLens application, scoring methodology, DSP code, rules engine, UI, and brand are owned by MixLens. You may use the public API per these Terms and the published documentation.
Billing, plans, and refunds
- Free: analysis is free forever. Free plan caps corrective renders at 3 per calendar month, 1 project, 3 tracks per project, and 24-hour audio retention.
- Pro: monthly or yearly subscription via Stripe. Unlimited corrective renders, project workspaces, API access, 30-day audio retention.
- Auto-renewal: paid plans renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel.
- Cancellation: any time from the Stripe portal linked in /account. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current period.
- Refunds: prorated refunds are available for plan upgrades / downgrades within the same period. For other refund requests, email hello@mixlens.io with the reason — we evaluate case-by-case.
- Price changes: we'll email active subscribers at least 30 days before any price increase to your tier.
What MixLens scores mean (and what they don't)
MixLens computes deterministic measurements (LUFS, true peak, spectrum balance, stereo correlation, dynamics) against published standards (ITU-R BS.1770-5, Spotify/Apple/YouTube loudness targets, etc.). The "Release Readiness" score and band are calibrated summaries of those measurements.
A "pass" band means MixLens didn't detect issues against the targets we measure against. It does not mean:
- The mix is creatively finished.
- The mix will sound good on any specific speaker or in any specific room.
- The mix will perform commercially.
- The mix is mastered to the standards of a specific label, distributor, or broadcaster beyond the published specs we cite.
MixLens is a diagnostic tool, not a substitute for a trained mix or mastering engineer. Use it as a second opinion, not a final verdict.
No warranty
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available." We don't warrant that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, timely, or error-free.
- The scores or recommendations are accurate, complete, or fit for your specific purpose.
- Defects will be corrected on any specific timeline.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MixLens disclaims all implied warranties (merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement) on the Service.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, MixLens, its officers, and its employees are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service. Our aggregate liability for any direct damages is limited to the greater of (a) $100 USD or (b) the amount you paid MixLens in the 12 months before the claim arose.
Termination
You can close your account any time from /account or by emailing privacy@mixlens.io. We delete your data within 30 days per the Privacy Policy.
We can terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms (especially the acceptable-use section). For paid accounts, we'll refund the unused prorated portion of your current period unless the termination is for cause (rights violations, fraud, malicious behavior).
Changes to these terms
We'll email active accounts when material changes ship. Cosmetic changes (rewording, fixing typos) just update the date above. Continued use after a change means you accept it; if you don't, stop using the Service and we'll cancel your account.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes that aren't resolved informally will be brought in the state or federal courts located in San Francisco County, California.
