How to read loudness over time
See whether your mix is consistent, too hot, or too dynamic for the target release.
How to read loudness over time
Lead with the loudness chart and the target line.
Point out the gap to target and what it means.
What the line is telling you
A mostly steady line means the track is consistent. Big dips usually mean sparse sections or over-compression. Hard spikes usually mean transient-heavy sections or a limiter reacting too hard.
The goal is not a perfectly flat line. The goal is a line that makes musical sense for the arrangement.
What to do first
If the whole track is off target, choose the correct loudness target first.
If peaks are ugly, engage the true-peak ceiling before chasing more gain.
If the track feels small even when it is loud, back off and preserve more transient shape.
